Sunday in the Park!

Who do you know that doesn’t know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord?  Is there a friend, a family member, a co-worker or classmate?  Perhaps he or she is a neighbor, a teammate, a barber, beautician, or mechanic?  The fact is:  We encounter people every day who do not know Jesus and are facing a Christless eternity.  It is estimated that at least half the people living in the Cedar Valley have no church home and do not know Jesus Christ personally.  That’s a lot of people for whom Jesus weeps!

The mission of Grace Church is clear:  To be a people and place where ordinary people experience God’s extraordinary grace!  And that’s why we continue to offer our “Sunday in the Park” worship and picnic for the community twice each summer.  Lost people matter to God, and lost people matter to Grace Church.  Many people hesitate to walk into the doors of a strange church full of people they have never met.  But they are much more likely to visit a city park which is open to the public.

Therefore, our assignment is also clear:  Reach out and invite those whom you know to join us for our “Sunday in the Park” this Sunday!  We’ll meet at Galloway Park, kiddy-corner from the church building right in our own neighborhood.  Worship will begin at 10:00 AM and feature music led by our “Spirit of Grace” praise band.  My message, “Quenching Your Thirst,” will point people to Jesus based on Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman.  Are you thirsty?  Do you know someone who is?

A picnic with free food for all will follow the worship service.  Hamburgers and hotdogs hot-off the grill will be provided along with beverages and table service.  Members of Grace Church will provide an assortment of side-dishes and yummy desserts.  Plenty of water will also be on-hand.  Following the picnic, children are invited to join in various games with prizes.  A playground is also available at the park along with restrooms and handicapped parking which we will designate.

It’s going to be a great Sunday of both spiritual and physical food, friendship, fellowship, and fun for the whole family.  Who do you know that needs Jesus?  Who will you invite?  Please forward this email or share our Facebook post to help invite others.  Or, print and pass out the attached flyer.  (More are available in the church foyer.)  So, let’s worship God in the greatest sanctuary ever built this coming Sunday.  It’s going to be a super day and I believe God is going to be glorified mightily!
