The Forgotten Member

Christianity professes one God, yet three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  This Trinity is a mystery beyond human comprehension.  I don’t understand it.  Yet, I believe it to be true because the Bible teaches that our one God takes on these three different forms.  Still, each of these three forms is co-eternal, co-existence, and co-equal in power and glory.  It’s an amazing and mind-boggling truth evidenced in Scripture and summarized wonderfully in the historic Athanasian Creed.

Yet, I fear one of the members of the Trinity is often forgotten.  We hear a lot about God the Father, the Creator and Sustainer of all.  We hear a lot about Jesus, the Son of God and Redeemer, who came to earth to bring salvation to all who believe and receive him.  But we tend to hear much less about the Holy Spirit who was given to us as a Comforter and constant Companion while Jesus reigns from heaven.  It’s too bad really, since the Holy Spirit is how we experience God practically on earth.

This Sunday, as we continue our Lenten sermon series on the marks of a disciple, we focus our attention on the Holy Spirit.  None of us like to wait.  But this Sunday’s message will highlight the importance of waiting on the Holy Spirit, including three reasons why the Spirit is definitely worth the wait.  If a disciple of Jesus is one who walks with God, a disciple of Jesus is also one who waits for the Holy Spirit before speaking, thinking, acting, and serving.  Join us in celebrating the Holy Spirit!

Worship begins at 10:00 AM with a blend of traditional and contemporary music to guide our singing.  The message will challenge you.  The worship will inspire you.  Warm friends will greet you.  And, the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit will bring healing to your soul.  A Children’s Church is provided.  Men will gather to pray following worship.  And refreshments will be served for all in our Fellowship Hall.  Let’s pack the house to the glory of God.  Share this link to invite a loved one!
