Psalm 23

No other Psalm or chapter in the Bible is as familiar as Psalm 23.   Children memorize it in Sunday school.  Pastors read it at funerals and memorial services.  We turn to it again and again when in need.  There’s just something about this Psalm – the image of the Lord as our Shepherd and we as His sheep – that promotes comfort, healing, and an overall sense of well-being.  Realizing that the Lord is my Shepherd means I don’t have to be in charge.  My job as a sheep is simply to follow and trust.

I’ve reflected on this Psalm many times at memorial services, but this Sunday – on an ordinary Sunday morning – we’re going to take a deeper look at this beloved ‘work-of-art’ penned by David, the shepherd-boy turned king.  David’s experience in tending sheep as a boy gave him a uniquely rich perspective in how we as God’s people in the church today need to also be led and fed by our Lord Jesus, the Good Shepherd.  Join us Sunday to discover four things the Lord your Shepherd offers!

Worship for all at Grace Church begins at 10:00 AM with a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary songs.  The message will encourage you.  Worship will lift your soul.  Prayers will connect you to God.  And, the Holy Spirit will be moving in our midst, granting healing and refreshing to all whose hearts are open.  You will be greeted by smiles and hugs.  A Children’s Church will be provided for young children.  Refreshments will be served for all in our Fellowship Hall following the service.
