Labors of Love
Most people I know are either still working or have worked during their lifetimes and find themselves retired now. And most of us who have worked have worked for someone other than ourselves. In other words, we had a boss. You were accountable to a boss, supervisor, or line leader to do your job well. If not, you might be fired. Yet the above passage reminds believers we work for someone higher than a boss. We work for the Lord! We work not for people, but for God.
That’s a good reminder on this Labor Day weekend. Labor Day is a day to honor the American worker, even as most of us look forward to a day off. Grace Church is made up of workers. We work hard to meet quotas. We work hard to please our superiors. We work hard to make a living. But what makes Grace Church work? Have you ever thought about that? God designed the church to do something – to work for His glory. Yet many churches are in decline today.
In a culture and day of age when many churches are not working, please join me Sunday for a message about getting back to basics entitled, “How Church Works.” Based on Ephesians 4:1-6, we’ll explore three characteristics of a church that works the way God designed. Will Grace Church measure up? Join us Sunday to find out! Worship begins at 10:00 AM featuring a hymn sing led by organ, piano, & guitars. It’s going to be a Spirit-filled Sunday. May God be glorified!
