Communicating Artistically
Do you like art? Are you a fan of music, drama, sculpture, drawings, or paintings? There’s something deeply powerful about the way art communicates with us. It seems to by-pass all the filters of our minds and cuts right to the heart and soul of our being. We hear a song and are moved to tears. We stand before a well-designed sculpture and marvel in awe. We see a colorful painting and are drawn into its wonder. We see the beauty of creation and well-up with praise!
God is a creative God. Just look around. God communicates his love for us artistically on the canvass of nature. Through mountain peaks, rolling oceans, blue skies, blooming flowers, budding trees, spotted animals, deep canyons, the constellations of galaxies – and so much more! How appropriate then that we at Grace Church recognize God’s ability to speak to human hearts – not merely through the spoken words of sermons – but in brilliant colorful chalk artistry as well!
This Sunday, May 18, we have the privilege of welcoming nationally known chalk artist, Randy Davis, all the way from his home in Branson, Missouri! Randy will present a visually illustrated message as he does a live drawing during our 10:00 AM worship service. His presentation will be educational, dramatic, and inspiring. Free-will donations will be received and encouraged as this is Randy’s full-time ministry. Please come prepared to be blessed and to give generously.
Worship begins at 10:00 AM. A nursery space and Busy Bags will be available for children. There is no Children’s Church this Sunday so that the little ones and teachers can remain in the sanctuary to witness the drawing. Refreshments will be served following the service. Men will gather for prayer and the Discovery Class will meet following the service. Please pass along this blog post or link to invite your friends and family to join us for this special Sunday!
