Belonging
Human beings are social creatures. No matter how introverted your personality. No matter how private your lifestyle. The truth is: No person is an island. God has created us for community. God gave Adam his wife Eve. God called the Israelites to live together as a holy nation. God calls believers to form a new community, the Church, to represent the Body of Jesus on earth. Even the Trinity of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is a community of three. Life is simply better together.
Created for community leads us to one of our most fundamental needs: Belonging. Every person on the planet has a need to belong, connect, and identify with a community of one kind or another. It’s why young people join gangs, students get involved with sports, people get married, adults form hobby groups, and elderly people belong to retirement communities. In fact, prolonged isolation can cause harmful effects both socially and mentally. We all have a need to belong.
Are you a part of a positive and supportive community? Is there a group of persons you can meaningfully connect with? Thankfully, God has created the perfect antidote to loneliness and our need to belong. Obviously, I’m talking about the Church of Jesus Christ. Join me Sunday as I share the message, “A New Family,” revealing the basis, bigness, and blessings of belonging to the family of God. Based on Galatians 3:26 – 4:7, we’ll discover what Paul says about this new family.
Worship begins at 10:00 AM. The message will inspire you. The worship will lift your soul. Children’s Church will be provided. All persons will be welcome. We’ll also honor our high school graduate, Caleb Robinson, with some gifts. And, all are invited to have some cake in Caleb’s honor in the fellowship hall after worship. Following refreshments, elders will meet with Discovery Class participants to receive prospective new members. Join us and bring your family and friends!
