Loving the Cedar Valley
Jesus told his disciples: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another” (John 13:34). And how did Jesus love us? He loved us until the bitter end of his life all the way to the cross. So now, we are called to love others in the same sacrificial and generous way. This is tough love. It’s not easy. It requires work, sacrifice, generosity, putting others first, and especially the Spirit of God working in and through us. But there is no greater love than this!
And what an opportunity Grace Church has this coming Sunday to love our neighbors as Jesus loved us! “Sunday in the Park” is a terrific way to show and share the love of God with others. Join us this Sunday at 10:00 AM as we meet at Byrnes Park (Maple Shelter), Waterloo for worship in the greatest sanctuary ever built – the great out-of-doors! The weather is going to be perfect. There’s plenty of shade. The park and shelter is fully handicapped accessible. And the sun will be shining!
I’ll share a message entitled, “A Higher Purpose,” calling us all into a deeper relationship with Jesus. Our “Spirit of Grace” praise band will lead worship, including a few hymns. A free picnic for all will follow the service, including hamburgers and hotdogs hot-off the grill. Table service and beverages will be provided. And games with prizes for the children will follow the picnic. Please bring a hot and/or cold dish to share, a chair or blanket to sit on, some sunscreen, and all your heart!
Handicapped parking is designed near the shelter. Level sidewalks run from the parking area to shelter and restrooms. A beautiful playground is available for children along with a sand volleyball court. It’s a beautiful park and the lawn is freshly mowed. Things are ready. Now, it’s time for us to do our part to pray and reach out to invite our families, friends, neighbors, loved ones, and even strangers. Please share this post to do just that. May God be praised and may we love well!
