Unpacking Easter

Two weeks ago, we celebrated Easter Sunday.  We ramped up to Easter beginning Palm Sunday, extending through two nights of our moving “Easter Song” drama, followed by our Easter Celebration Service including a delicious breakfast and an Easter egg hunt for the children.  It was a splendid weekend.  The sanctuary was full.  Visitors were welcomed.  Praises were sung.  The Word was preached.  People got plenty to eat.  Children enjoyed candy.  Joy was abundant.  God was glorified!

So now what?  Is the Easter season over until next year?  Is it time to take down the decorations and put up your feet up?  The answer is ‘no.’   Easter Sunday was just the beginning.  Truly, Easter is celebrated each and every Sunday of the year – which is the reason we worship on the first day of the week.  The fact is, our labor is just commencing.  We now begin the hard work of ‘living Easter out’.  We now begin spreading the Good News.  We now translate what Easter means for you and me.

And this is exactly what the Apostle Paul does in his letter to the churches in Galatia and beyond.  Jesus rose from the dead.  The rest of the New Testament is commentary.  What does the resurrection mean for us in personal and practical terms?  This is the central question of my new sermon series, “Unpacking Easter.”   Through a systemic study the Book of Galatians, we will examine Paul’s challenge to the Galatian churches who seemed to have missed the point of Easter.

Join us this Sunday as we commence this important sermon series and study.  Worship begins at 10:00 AM.  The message will inspire you.  The music will lift your soul.  Warm friends will greet you.  Visitors and guests will be welcomed.  Children’s Church will be provided for young children.  Refreshments will be served following worship.  Men will gather for prayer.  The Discovery Class will gather for those inquiring about membership.  And most importantly, God will be glorified!
