The Welcoming Church
Is Grace Church a welcoming church? Most of our members would likely say “yes.” But here’s a little secret: Every church thinks they are a welcoming church. Usually, that means they are good at welcoming people who look like them, think like them, hold similar political views, have the same ethnicity, and belong to the same socio-economic class. But truth be told, not all churches are welcoming. Still, God exhorts His people to show hospitality and welcome the stranger.
It’s one of our key goals at Grace Church: To welcome all people within our reach. And it is also the next mark of a true disciple in our Lenten sermons series: What is a Disciple? Rather than reduce discipleship to reading your Bible for five minutes a day, praying before meals, and attending church, we are taking a deeper look at what it means to truly follow Jesus. This Sunday, we’ll consider the hospitality of Abraham from Genesis 18, and break down five tasks of welcoming the outsider.
Please join us this Sunday as worship begins at 10:00 AM. You will be warmly welcomed. The message will inspire you. Your soul will be lifted by vibrant worship. And the Holy Spirit will be moving in our midst – healing hearts and renewing lives. A Children’s Church will be provided for little ones along with a Nursery space for infants and toddlers. Men will gather for prayer following the service. And, refreshments will be served for all who are hungry. Don’t miss your blessing this Sunday!
