People of Grace
We live in a world of violence, injustice, and oppression. We live in a world of hurt, heartache, and despair. We live in a world of sin, shame, and religious rule-keeping. You don’t have to live many years in this fallen world to experience pain and brokenness. You don’t have to go around looking for it; it will find you. Ten minutes of watching the evening news or scrolling on your phone reminds us of the depravity of the human condition. This world is broken. We are broken!
Thankfully, God has provided a way out - an alternative to the ‘tit-for-tat’ retribution and violence we see playing out in our relationships, politics, nation, and world. God has provided a ‘circuit breaker’ to the endless cycle of sin, shame, and self-defeat. This alternative is called: GRACE! God’s amazing grace offers a way forward. God’s grace offers us a way out of this mess. Forgiveness, cleansing, healing, renewal, peace, and salvation are possible by the grace of Jesus Christ – even today!
In this spirit, we begin a five-part sermon series entitled, “People of Grace.” Seventy-five years ago, the charter members of our church chose the name Grace Church. May we be a church that lives up to our name, showing and sharing the grace of God to a world in need. Our calling to be ‘people of grace’ in this depraved world has never been so critical. Hurting people need us to get this right. Please join us Sunday for our opening message, “Ordinary People, Extraordinary Grace.”
Worship begins at 10:00 AM and features a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary songs. Those who wish may share a testimony of God’s grace in their lives, or how Grace Church has positively impacted them as we pass the microphone for Sunday’s message. Rather than me tell you what it means to be a place of grace; I invite you all to tell each other! It will be a Sunday of moving testimonies and thanksgivings. Children’s Church and refreshments provided. Invite your friends!
