Made Alive

Death is all around us.  Wars are raging.  Starvation steals the lives of children daily.  Disease cuts life short.  Loved ones die.  Just yesterday, we had another senseless school shooting in this country.  There is murder on our streets.  Illegal drugs claim the life of countless thousands in our nation every year.  Accidents happen and shatter lives.  And even as I write this, I am preparing for a funeral which I will lead later this morning here at the church.  Death is all around us.

The Bible teaches that death is a result of sin.  Truth is, we often bring death to others.  Our culture celebrates death.  Guns are everywhere.  Even our own government has proposed livestreaming an execution for all to see.  People are good at creating death out of life.  But only God can bring life out of death!  No one can resuscitate themselves.  No one can create life out of nothing.  But praise be to God our Father who “makes us alive in Christ Jesus” even when we were dead in our sins.

We continue our “Every Spiritual Blessing” sermon series on the Book of Ephesians this Sunday at Grace Church.  So far, Paul has given us the ‘executive summary’ of God’s big plan to redeem humankind.  He then offered a pastoral prayer for the Ephesians so that they would understand this plan.  Next, Paul begins spelling out the specifics of God’s plan by breaking it down piece by piece.  This Sunday, Paul focuses on our individual salvation in Jesus Christ.  How is a person actually saved?

Worship begins at 10:00 AM with a blend of traditional and contemporary music.  The message will inspire.  Worship will lift your soul.  Friends will warm your heart.  And, the Holy Spirit will bring revival to those whose hearts are open.  A Nursery space and Children’s Church will be provided for little ones.  Refreshments will be served following worship.  And, the Discovery Class for inquirers will meet to explore membership.  Please share this post and plan to join us with your loved ones!
