Easter Exultation
What a fabulous Holy Week and Easter Sunday God gave to Grace Church! My heart is full and overflowing on this Monday morning - full of joy, full of gratitude, full of appreciation, and full of praise for our risen Lord Jesus Christ! God did big and amazing things through our little church this past weekend. We even ended up becoming front page news on Saturday’s edition of The Courier. God is blessing our church and making us known throughout the Cedar Valley!
It began with two superb performances of our “Easter Song” drama last Good Friday and Holy Saturday evenings. The sanctuary was full both nights with around 100 people present each night. God used this mighty drama to impact lives as many were touched and came forward for the altar call, dedicating or rededicating their lives to Jesus. I felt the drama was truly anointed by God both nights. Everything came together so well and the cast did an amazing job!
The celebration continued Sunday morning with a delicious Easter breakfast, an Easter Egg Hunt for children, and our joyous Easter Celebration Service. Countless families enjoyed good food, around 15 children participated in the egg hunt, and we packed the house for worship with approximately 123 persons in attendance – a record for the year so far. Smiles, laughter, children, youth, and joy filled the atmosphere at Grace Church Sunday morning in every space.
A special thanks to all who made our Easter weekend such a terrific one for Grace Church. We thank the hard work and dedication of our drama team – cast and crew - along with our director Barb Holven. We thank Elroy & Colleen Rowenhorst and helpers for the scrumptious breakfast. We thank Kelly Price and helpers for organizing and running the egg hunt for children again this year. And, we thank all who led and participated in Sunday’s wonderful service of worship.
But mostly, we thank God for making all these things possible. We thank God for giving us His Son Jesus Christ to pay the price for our sins by dying on a cross. We thank God for loving us so much that He sent Jesus into this broken, fallen world to show us the way to heaven. We thank God for granting those who believe new life in Jesus – abundant, infinite, and eternal. My heart is full this Monday morning. And, I trust yours is too. Great job, Grace Church! Great job, Jesus!
