An Antidote to Conflict

We live in a world of conflict.  Presently, Russia is rolling over Ukraine.  The rulers of Israel and Hamas are trying to implement a fragile peace deal to end two years of brutal bombings.  In America, we experience another government shut-down as Republicans and Democrats can’t agree.  Racism and xenophobia wreak havoc in our society, dividing friends and families.  Closer to home, a husband and wife argue.  Siblings rival one another.  Friends have a falling out.  Anxiety fills our hearts.

What are good people to do in a world of conflict, division, hatred, and animosity?  Popular responses include fighting back, getting even, or simply walking away.  But Jesus offers us another way – a better way.  “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”   Peacemaking is a lost art in today’s world.  Many believe it sounds naïve or simplistic.  But Jesus wasn’t naïve; he was realistic.  Our world badly needs peace.  Followers of Jesus are commissioned to bring it.

How can you be a peacemaker?  Discover a four-step practical plan that everyone can use to resolve conflict in our own lives and mediate peace for others.  Worship begins at 10:00 AM this Sunday.  The message will inspire.  Worship will elevate.  Friends will encourage.  The Spirit will heal.  A nursery space and children’s church are provided for little ones.  Cake and goodies will be served following in honor or Ron & Judy Opperman’s 50th wedding anniversary and Pastor Dave’s 62nd birthday.

This is not a Sunday to miss!  Who do you know who could be blessed by this message, Spirit-filled worship, and heart-warming fellowship?  Maybe someone you know is dealing with conflict.  Maybe someone you know is feeling down and depressed.  Please invite them and join together this Sunday morning.  Many volunteers are still needed to sign-up to make our anticipated Christmas drama a reality.  Drama practice will begin this Sunday at noon in the sanctuary.  To God be the glory!
