The Elusive Nature of Revival

O how we long for revival!  O how we long for renewal!  Much of life seems dry and routine.  Our bodies are tired and fatigued.  Our souls cry out for something more, something deeper, something higher.  Our inner spirit tells us we were created for something better that this world.  So, we pray.  We read our Bibles.  We attend Sunday worship.  We attend Bible studies and small groups.  Yet, revival eludes us.  It escapes us.  It is hard to find.  It is hard to come by.  We need it.  But we can’t always find it!

Spiritual renewal and revival is elusive.  There’s no easy formula.  There’s not a simple three-step process.  There’s no “quick fix” for revitalization of heart and soul.  Revival and renewal are the things of a sovereign God.  The winds of His Spirit blow where they will and who can tell?  We are at God’s mercy to bring the renewal we all long for.  Yet, there are some things we can do.  There are ways we can position ourselves to receive a fresh blowing of the Spirit when it happens.  We can “put up our sail” and be ready.

Join your friends at Grace Church along with your loved ones this Sunday, November 5, as I bring the message, “For the Weary.”  Chances are, you may be feeling a bit weary these days.  You may be feeling tired.  You may be grieving.  You may be burnt out.  If so, Sunday’s message will bring you hope.  Sunday’s message will point us to three things that Joshua did with the Israelites of old which can lead us to revival today.  It’s not a sure-fire formula.  But it can surely bring help and hope to you and all who are weary.

Don’t forget to “fall back” one hour for the end of Daylight Savings Time this Saturday night.  Traditional Worship begins at 9:00 AM and Contemporary Worship begins at 10:45 AM.  Both services feature the same biblical message, heart-felt worship, warm friends, and the reviving presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst.  A nursery and Busy Bags are provided for children.  The Discovery Class meets at 10:05 AM.  Men are invited to gather for prayer at 10:15 AM.  Refreshments will be served between services.

God is inviting you to meet him at his house before the big game this Sunday.  Your presence is requested.  Your presence will be noticed.  Your presence will be valued.  God is calling you.  Will you be there?  Will you be present?  Will you make your appointment with God for this Sunday morning?  Please join us and be blessed and revived!
