It’s Friday …
Today is Good Friday. It is one of the most somber days of the entire year for Christians, next to Holy Saturday. It was Friday when Jesus was crucified. It was Friday when Jesus was hung on a cross. It was Friday when Jesus died a horrific death by Roman torture. Friday is the day the sky turned dark and heaven grieved. Good Friday is also a day when the family and followers of Jesus wept, wailed, and grieved. Hopes were dashed. Dreams were shattered. Death and evil appeared to win.
We live in a ‘Friday world.’ Evil is running rampant. Nations rise against nations. Wars ravish peoples’ lives. Innocents die. Might makes right. Earthly power reigns supreme. Death is all around us. Dreams are shattered. Addictions prevail. Relationships are broken. Marriages end in divorce. Children die prematurely. By all appearances, evil is winning. But do remember: It’s Friday, but Sunday is coming! Friday is not the end. God’s Kingdom is breaking in. God will have the last say!
Grace Church will celebrate God’s “breaking in” to our Friday world this Easter weekend in grand fashion! Our “Easter Song” drama will be presented this Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:00 PM. An Easter Breakfast will be held from 8:45-9:45 AM on Easter morning. An Egg Hunt will be provided for children at 9:15 AM, including two Super Eggs with special prizes. And, our Sunday morning celebration begins 10:00 AM with the singing of favorite Easter hymns and contemporary songs of hope!
My message, “An Excruciating Victory,” will speak to your heart. Worship will lift your soul. Warm friends will greet you. Visitors will be welcome. And the presence of the Holy Spirit will bring healing and renewal. A nursery will be provided during the drama and Sunday worship. Children’s Church will be offered Sunday morning. And we might even have some refreshments from breakfast left over following the service. Join us with your family and friends as we worship the risen Lord Jesus!
